Prepare yourself to make free ip calls!
Why not get a wifi phone?Get ready, join the wireless ip phone area.
A wifi phone uses Voice over IP technologies to make ip calls, allowing telephone - ip calls to be made over the internet instead of the ordinary PSTN system. One of the primary motivations for implementing such a system is the lower calling cost using a wireless ip phone. When calling other wifi phones over the internet one only pays for the usually fixed cost internet bandwidth.
There are two possibilities if u want to use a wifi phone.
A software program for use on the computer or mobile phone like iphone sip phone. This mobile phone and other phones capable of acting as a wireless ip phone, can use software programs like the iphone sip phone.
If there is a wireless network in range, u can call friends and relatives, sitting at the computer or using an iphone sip phone or other wifi phone themselves at no cost, execpt bandwidth.
Another possibility is to use a hardware wireless ip phone to make ip calls from your home or office. Down below on this page we show u some of the latest wifi phone models. These wireless ip phones can connect directly to a router, switch or other device with access to the internet.

Reviews:
Unreliable - it should JUST WORK!purchased this card to save a few $$$ over the Netgear/Belkin/DLink card. the card itself installed easily, but it just didn't work. on fresh startups/reboots the card would find the network and connect somewhat sluggishly. if the computer sat idle long enough to get to the screen saver (15 min) the card would just stop working. it would say that it was connected to the internet, but nothing would come through. also had this problem when bringing the computer back from sleep/hibernation modes. did the routine trouble shooting of the router, the firewall, the antivirus, the system settings, etc etc...it had to be the card. took it back, and paid the $10 more for the NETGEAR WG311 54Mbps Wireless-G PCI Adapter. the NETGEAR adapter !*WORKS FLAWLESSLY*! (although i don't particularly care for their connection management software). i also read online about firmware issues with this particular TRENDNET model.
buyer beware.
card was installed on a system w/ a fresh WINXP SP2 install

Belkin F1PP010EN-SK Desktop Internet Phone for Skype (Black).

Skype Internet Desktop Telephone.
Reviews:
Amazing productAs Skype has become more widely use by many people, much more than one or two friends, I've moved from using it on my laptop and then on my iphone, into using on my desk. The feeling of having a desk phone is very pleasant and having calls ring without having to have your computer on is ideal. In addition the sound quality of the speaker phone and the feel and quality of the phone itself is fantastic. I was hesitant at first and I had seen it for almost two years and I was not convinced on the beginning, but I order two phones and hand them to relatives of mine, among them my parents and they really love it.

Great ProductWhen I first got this product I was amazed at how small it was, but despite it's small size it's quite an amazing product. Though, the CD documentation that came with it didn't really help with installation, but it wasn't too hard to set it up to work. Now with Google Voice + SIP Gate + Sip Sorcery I can get free calling through this!

D-Link Skype USB Phone Adapter.

D-Link Skype USB Phone Adapter.
Reviews:
Making sense of the conflicting reviews (worth reading)I don't usually write reviews but I think this one will be helpful. This device is good but the software is problematic (hence the mixed reviews) . For example, it will not work with Skype 4 or with Win XP service pack 2 & 3 (and I'm not sure if it would work with Vista service 2 & 3). However, if you have windows 7, I would recommend this device if you install it properly.
1) You will need to install the old skype (version 3) (you can get it from old apps - just google it).
MAKE SURE TO INSTALL IT USING THE COMPATIBILITY MODE - ignore the warnings compatibility problems from Windows !!!!
(right click the setup icon > click on properties > click on the 'compatibility' tab and choose Windows Vista and place a tick above)
2) Download the latest driver from D-link (1.1) and install it with the compatibility mode (as done above) and choose Windows Vista (plain Vista without service pack).
3) Change the audio settings in Skype to accommodate the new device (tools > options > audio settings).
The device should work properly now. Don't forget to press #* before you make a call with the phone and # once you want it to dial.
Also, DON'T PULL OUT THE USB before closing the program it may mess things up...
Hope this helps.

Reviews:
fantastic productI am new to computers and just got my first one a few weeks ago. i ordered this product in the hopes that it would give me another bar or 2 on the wireless network to improve the speed and reliability. i plugged it into my computer, it downloaded the drivers and all of a sudden i could see about 25 to 30 networks. i was picking up home depot's public wi-fi network and they are about a mile away. it was only one bar but still, that is quite a bit of range. i live on top of a hill so my results may be better than others but it was a massive improvement, especially for only $22. well worth it.

Great, Inexpensive Wireless RouterI found the router to be very good for what I needed. I was looking for a small wired router that I could plug 2 security cameras into and a computer and a cable modem.
The features are great. It has a routing feature that allows you to assign public ports and forward them to private internal ports and IP's, allowing you to set up multiple servers, or cameras, or FTP's or whatever.
Highly recommended.

Steady and strong signalThe installation was easy and straightforward. The signal is strong and doesn't drop - have been using it for over a month, with two different routers - DLink and Belkin. It was purchased for old Dell desktop running Windows XP to get it on wireless network and so far it serves it purpose. One difference - the model we received is black and no blue.

Reviews:
Depends what capabilities you needBe careful. If you are buying it for a specific advertised capability, make sure it actually works. The documentation isn't reflected in the product. This is a home use product. I've been using it for a couple years in my home. If you just want a plug and play wifi router with better bandwidth than a 'g mode' model, you'll be happy with this. If you want to used the advanced features such as filtering access from various devices -- laptops, iPods, etc., it might not satisfy you.
PROS:
-price, advertised capability, range, online customer support (technicians actually know the product vs. reading from a script), works well with my laptop 2ft from my microwave and 5ft from my cordless phone base station.
CONS:
-firmware limitations or bugs.
I have the router installed on the 3rd floor. I consistently get around 100 Mbps throughput on floors 2 and 3. I max out at 130 Mbps. On the first floor, I get around 60 Mbps (still better than 'g'). I was using fw 1.10B13 and everything was fine until I tried filtering my son's new iPod touch via the MAC address. It turned out there was a bug in the MAC address filtering which was fixed in 1.10B19. I upgraded and MAC address filtering worked correctly, but now the LAN wifi client DHCP connection is periodically dropped and not restored until the router is reset. So I can either filter my sons access to internet or have a reliable wifi connection. My solution... time to move on to a different vendor's product. For $24, it is worth buying if you are using g-mode or no wifi while you get educated on what you want to spend 'real' money on.
