Prepare yourself to make free ip calls!

Why not get a wifi phone?
Get ready, join the wireless ip phone area.

A wifi phone uses Voice over IP technologies to make ip calls, allowing telephone - ip calls to be made over the internet instead of the ordinary PSTN system. One of the primary motivations for implementing such a system is the lower calling cost using a wireless ip phone. When calling other wifi phones over the internet one only pays for the usually fixed cost internet bandwidth.

There are two possibilities if u want to use a wifi phone.
A software program for use on the computer or mobile phone like iphone sip phone. This mobile phone and other phones capable of acting as a wireless ip phone, can use software programs like the iphone sip phone.
If there is a wireless network in range, u can call friends and relatives, sitting at the computer or using an iphone sip phone or other wifi phone themselves at no cost, execpt bandwidth.

Another possibility is to use a hardware wireless ip phone to make ip calls from your home or office. Down below on this page we show u some of the latest wifi phone models. These wireless ip phones can connect directly to a router, switch or other device with access to the internet.

Worked fine on Win 7 64 bitI downloaded driver ahead of time and didn't give win 7 a chance to find it on its own. I like that the software gives detailed signal strength info to help with positioning (says 72% signal strength instead of '3 bars'). Picks up more networks than my dell laptop. Price is right

Reviews:
Value for money, nothing fancyI was very confused about getting a good router, considered many options ranging from Linksys to Netgear to Belkin (I previously had a Belkin, it was an epic fail). I found out about Trendnet, it was way cheaper and served my purpose of a normal day-to-day router. It doesn't really have as many functions as a high-end consumer router, but it is well-suited for home usage. If you are running a small business from home, for example, you do not want to get this. My experience with cheap products in the past has almost entirely been bad, but this one has yet to disappoint me. I would predict the longevity of this router to be about a year. All in all, it's good value for the money. Especially if you're just interested in setting up a basic home network with up to 4 devices connected at a time.

Reviews:
Great, cheap option for inhouse networkI bought this wireless adapter because, after my last netbook died and I decided to replace it with a desktop instead, I needed a wireless card since it wasn't installed with the desktop.

Let me state right off that I am running WINDOWS 7, and like other reviewers for this have stated, you'll need to look on the realtek website for their RTL8187L device for the Windows 7 driver download, since it doesn't come on the disk. Just do a search online (instead of through their website search bar, which didn't find the right page!) and you'll find it pretty quick! I didn't even bother with the disk after I read the reviews, just went online on my moms computer and downloaded the driver to an external drive so I could install it on the new PC. The driver installed REALLY fast, and after a restart was up and ready to go with no hassle. So really, this adapter is almost straight plug-and-go.

On the subject of signal, the adapter picks up my inhouse signal with absolutely no problems at a full 5 bars. It also picks up a bunch of my neighbors signals at 3 to 4 bars, and the free county wifi at 2 (which is amazing since I've never seen the county wifi at anything more than 1 bar no matter where I go in town). I have no idea how far this would continue to pick up my inhouse signal, since the computer I'm using it for is stationary, you'll have to refer to other reviews for that.

On a side note that's only slightly related, I had a bit of a hiccup when I first plugged it in. I had it attached to my USB hub because all my other USB ports on the tower are being used by other devices. However, even though it was receiving signals and showing everything clearly, it couldn't connect to the internet. After doing some rearranging, I got it plugged into the tower itself, and it worked just fine. Tech-savvy people out there would probably say that that's obvious, but in case you're someone who isn't quite so savvy, like myself, that might be useful to know.

I might edit this review after a few months if anything goes wrong, but for now, straight out of the box this is a great alternative if you need wireless access and don't want to pay $45-50 for the device.

Great Deal!Purchased for use with a laptop that has 10.04 Lucid Lynx installed and it was pure plug n play! The reception is awesome. I expected it to be weaker than the installed internal wi-fi card on the laptop. 5 starts for the price! It does get very warm, but I use a cooling pad that is blowing on the laptop so it has not been an issue. Since I am using Linux I cannot comment on the install for Window$, but it did come with a driver CD-ROM. Shipping was fast too, I would buy again!

Reviews:
This phone has some major problems, but still functions okay for home use.1. My phone currently does not allow me to set which country it is in, so every time I make a call in the same town I live I need to put in the full international number like 00-1(555)555-1212 rather than just 555-1212 or even (555)555-1212.

2. It seems to not have proper DHCP implementation. It doesn't ask to renew DHCP leases when they expire. It just holds onto the IP address it has. This can cause a lot of trouble in a large network environment if you have more than 5-10 of these phones on a dynamic DHCP address pool. In this situation the DHCP server keeps trying to hand out addresses only to find they are currently in use. After a few failed attempts this results in no service for the person requesting an IP.

3. It appears Belkin has not release any firmware updates to address any of the problems with this phone.

Giving 1 star just because Bekin should release a firmware update to address these issues.

Reviews:
Great with alternate firmwareI picked this up for $25 from [...] (through Amazon). The original firmware is quite simple (and a bit flaky). I did have it working pretty well with the latest version of the firmware but it would still disconnect at times.

I downloaded the latest version of DD-WRT (which now supports this router) and loaded it. It is much improved now. The disconnects are gone and my range is slightly better. It took a bit of research to get the firmware to load but it was worth it.
I also know this is the same unit as a D-Link 615 router and you can load the firmware for the D-Link on here and it works very well also. Do some research on the internet.

Overall I would say this is a good product provided you use alternate firmware. It would be unused (or returned) if I had to only use the firmware provided by Trendnet. If you're handy and comfortable with uploading firmware, etc., it's a great bargain to get N-speeds with either D-Link or DD-WRT firmware.

Otherwise, I would be leary of buying this. Wish the manufacturers could figure this out and actually put software on these things that work.

Reviews:
Great product despite a slightly difficult set upIt took a little while to get it set up because the directions do not detail where you enter in all the settings and some of the settings they do not detail at all. However, once working, this is an amazing product. Great for travel and way faster than I had expected. Since it is unlocked, you can you use it with many different carriers, this is helpful when traveling abroad. It is small, lightweight, and portable. This is one of my favorite gadgets of the year.
